Transforming 2D NFTs into 3D playable avatars and animations

  • Purchase an NFT PFP from a NFT marketplace such as Open Sea. Make sure that the NFT will give you access to the NFT artwork and check your license to see what you can and can not do with your NFT.

  • Edit the NFT artwork in Photoshop to remove the background and get the character in a T-Pose.

  • Input the edited artwork into Kaedim. Set max poly count to 100k and select 'High Detailed'. Process. Download model as a .fbx file .

  • Import into Unity and use UniVRM to export a VRM version of the model.

  • Upload to VRoid studio. Take virtual photos of the model. Set metadata. You now have a playable avatar.

  • Open any application that supports VRM or has the VRoid SDK integrated into it and select the avatar.

  • Import your Avatar into Blender to add a Rig. Please make sure you rig the hand and fingers, feet and toes of your avatar too.

  • Log into the Move.ai web app, navigate to the tab labeled rig, click to add your rig and select your FBX file. Once you have uploaded you will have to map the bones to your rig.

  • Go to your Move.ai project and process your take with your selected rig.

  • Export your data and import into any animation software from Unreal Engine 5 to Blender, Maya or Cinema 4D to create a unique animation.

Thank you so much for tuning in to find out how to transform 2D NFTs into 3D playable avatars and animations.
